Free image tools for photos, graphics and online forms
Shrink a photo to fit an upload limit, change its format, make a passport photo, cut out the background or pull the text out of a screenshot - all free, with no account and no watermark.
Which tool do I need?
- Image too large for a form or email? Compress it, or hit an exact limit such as 50 KB or 20 KB.
- Wrong pixel size? Resize Image sets exact width and height.
- Photo for an application or ID? Passport Photo Maker crops, sets the background and sizes it in one go.
- Wrong format? Convert between JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and SVG - for example WebP to PNG or PNG to JPG - and iPhone photos with HEIC to JPG, HEIC to PNG or HEIC to PDF.
- Need a clean cut-out? Remove Background; to hide a mark, Remove Watermark.
- Text inside a picture? Image to Text copies it out, and JPG to Word saves it as an editable Word file.
- More: Images to PDF (also JPG to PDF and PNG to PDF), QR Code Generator and Webpage to PNG.
Which format should I use?
JPG is best for photos and small files. PNG keeps text, logos and screenshots sharp and supports transparency. WebP gives the smallest files for websites. SVG is for logos and icons that must scale to any size, and GIF for simple animations. If an upload form doesn't say, JPG is the safest choice.
KB or pixels - what does the form want?
Upload forms use two different limits that are easy to mix up. KB or MB is the file size - how much space the image takes - and you reduce it by compressing. Pixels (for example 200 x 230) are the dimensions - how wide and tall the picture is - and you change them by resizing. Many exam and government forms ask for both, so resize to the exact pixels first, then compress until you are under the KB limit.
