Photos compress best as JPG or WebP. Screenshots and graphics stay sharp as PNG or WebP. At a 200 KB target most images reach it with compression alone.
If a PNG will not shrink enough
A detailed photo saved as PNG is very large. Converting it to JPG first, then compressing, is the reliable way to reach 200 KB.
Where 200 KB limits show up
Online marketplaces, classified ads, school portals and many website builders cap uploaded images at around 200 KB. It's also a common limit for scanned documents uploaded as images, such as an ID card or a certificate photo.

- Photograph the page flat, in good light, filling the frame with the paper.
- Crop away the table and shadows around the edges.
- If colour doesn't matter, a greyscale image is much smaller and often clearer to read.
Keep an original
Compression is one-way: details removed to save space can't be restored. Keep your original photo and compress a copy, so you can make a higher-quality version later if a different site allows more.
