Under 1 MB with almost no visible change
Modern phones save photos at high quality settings that produce large files, often far more than any website needs. Lowering the JPEG quality a little removes data your eyes do not notice, and that alone usually takes a 5 MB photo under 1 MB. Most photos keep their full width and height; only very large panoramas or camera RAW exports may also be resized slightly.
Where a 1 MB limit appears
- Job portals and college applications that accept photos or certificates up to 1 MB.
- Insurance claims, rental applications and banking apps that ask for photos of documents.
- Website contact forms, support tickets and community forums.
- Email services that block or slow down large attachments.
Tips for the best result
If you are compressing a photo of a document, take it in good light and hold the phone straight above the page so the text is sharp; sharp text survives compression better than blurry text. For photos you want to print, keep the original as well, because printing benefits from every pixel. For screen use, the 1 MB version is all you need.
Other sizes
Need a smaller file? Type any number into the target box, from 5 KB up to 10 MB, and the tool will aim for that instead. Your original is deleted from our server right after processing.
