Why 300 KB?

300 KB is a sweet spot for images that still need to look good. A full-screen photo at 300 KB is sharp on phones and laptops, yet it loads quickly and fits upload limits on job portals, school and college forms, online marketplaces, classified ads and many content management systems. It is also a common limit for profile photos and supporting documents.

How it works

The tool tries the highest JPEG quality first and lowers it only until the file is under 300 KB. For most phone photos this happens without changing the pixel size at all. Very large camera photos or panoramas may also be scaled down slightly to keep quality high. The orientation from your phone is applied, so the photo stays the right way up, and if your image is already under 300 KB you get the original back unchanged.

Good uses for a 300 KB image

  • Websites and blogs - fast-loading images help visitors on mobile data and help pages rank.
  • Product listings - clear product photos that upload quickly to shops and marketplaces.
  • Applications - certificates, ID copies and photos for portals with a 300 KB cap.
  • Email - send several photos in one message without hitting attachment limits.

Different limit?

Type any size into the box, or use the quick sizes for 100 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB. For PDF files, use Resize Document, which brings a PDF under a KB limit in the same way.

Questions & Answers

Will my image lose quality at 300 KB?
Very little. 300 KB is enough for a sharp full-screen photo, and the tool keeps the highest quality that fits.
Does it change the width and height?
Usually not. Only very large images are scaled down slightly when quality alone is not enough.
What format is the result?
A standard JPG, which almost every website and form accepts.
Is my image stored?
No. It is deleted from our server right after processing, and the result is removed automatically soon after.
