Crop Image

Trim a photo to just the part you want. Drag a box over the image, crop, and download - all in your browser.

How it works

1

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.

2

Drag on the image to select the area to keep.

3

Click Crop and download the result.

Crop a photo in your browser

Cropping removes the parts of a picture you do not want, so the subject fills the frame. This tool does it entirely in your browser: your image is never uploaded to a server, which keeps it private and makes the crop instant even on a slow connection. It works with JPG, PNG and WebP, and keeps the original format and quality of the part you keep.

When cropping helps

  • Straighten a composition - cut out distracting edges so the subject stands out.
  • Fit a shape - crop to a square for a profile picture or a social post.
  • Remove unwanted detail - trim a person, object or background out of the edge of a photo.
  • Prepare for upload - crop to the area a form or site actually needs before you resize.

How to crop accurately

Drag from one corner of the area you want to the opposite corner; a bright box shows what will be kept and the rest is dimmed. You can redraw the box as many times as you like before you click Crop, and Reset selection clears it. If you do not draw a box, the whole image is kept. The download keeps the same file type as your original - PNG stays PNG with transparency, JPG stays JPG.

Private and free

Because the crop happens on your device, there is no upload, no account and no watermark, and nothing is stored anywhere. Need an exact pixel size afterwards? Use the Resize Image tool. Need a smaller file? Use the Image Compressor.

Questions & Answers
