Checklist before you convert
- Accept or hide tracked changes and comments so the PDF shows only the final text.
- Check the paper size (A4 or Letter) under Layout > Size, so pages break where you expect.
- Use common fonts such as Arial, Calibri or Times New Roman when the look matters, or embed fonts when saving the document.
- Update fields and tables of contents so page numbers are correct before they are frozen into the PDF.
Where a PDF works better than a Word file
Job applications, contracts, invoices, assignments and anything you print at a shop are safer as PDF: the reader cannot accidentally edit your text, and the layout does not depend on their version of Word. Keep your .docx as the editable master and send the PDF.
