Why unlock a PDF?

PDFs are often password-protected for a good reason at the time - sharing a payslip, an invoice, or a scanned document. But once that document has served its purpose, retyping a password every time you open it is just friction. This tool strips the encryption from a PDF you already know the password to, so the file opens instantly from then on.

Is this safe?

You need the PDF's current password to unlock it - this tool cannot break or guess a password you don't already know. Your file is processed on our server and deleted automatically afterward; we don't store your documents or your password.

Questions & Answers

Can this tool crack a password I don't know?
No. You must already know the PDF's current password to unlock it. This tool removes encryption, it does not guess or brute-force passwords.
Will unlocking change the content of my PDF?
No, only the password protection is removed. Every page, image and piece of text stays exactly as it was.
Is my file kept after unlocking?
No. Both the uploaded file and the unlocked copy are removed from our server automatically after a short period.
What if I enter the wrong password?
The tool will show an error and ask you to try again - nothing is unlocked until the correct password is supplied.
