The full-screen Story and Reel size
Instagram Stories and Reels are vertical and fill the phone screen at 1080x1920 pixels - a 9:16 ratio. A landscape or square photo posted to a Story leaves big empty bars or gets awkwardly zoomed. This tool builds an exact 1080x1920 image so your Story fills the screen the way you want. The same size works for Facebook Stories, WhatsApp Status and TikTok.
Crop to fill or fit
- Crop to fill scales the image to cover the tall frame and trims the sides - best for a photo that already has room top and bottom.
- Fit (blurred edges) shows the whole image centred with a soft blur above and below - the clean way to post a landscape or square photo as a full-screen Story.
- Fit (colour) puts the image on a solid colour band instead of a blur.
Keep text in the safe zone
Instagram overlays its own buttons at the top and bottom of a Story, so keep important text and faces in the middle, roughly within the central two-thirds. Start from a tall, high-resolution image where you can, since a small image stretched to 1920 tall will soften. Everything runs on your device - nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark.
