Photo and signature for a PAN card application
A PAN card application made online through NSDL-Protean or UTIITSL asks you to upload a recent photograph and your signature as scanned images. Each portal states its own pixel size and KB limit, and uploads outside those are rejected. This tool crops your photo to the required dimensions and compresses it in one pass, and does the same for the signature, so the application goes through cleanly.
The sizes the PAN portals usually ask for
The two portals differ. NSDL-Protean commonly asks for a photograph around 3.5x2.5 cm and a signature, each in JPEG up to roughly 50 KB; UTIITSL often states a square photo near 300x300 pixels and separate signature limits. The 213x213 photo and 400x200 signature shown here are typical values. Because the portals and their limits change, always read the instructions on the exact portal you are applying through and use Custom if your numbers differ.
Get your PAN upload accepted
- Recent colour photo, plain background, full face centred.
- Signature in black ink inside the box the form shows, scanned clearly.
- Keep each file under the portal's stated KB limit.
- Upload photo and signature as separate JPEG files.
Size the photo first, then switch to the PAN Signature preset for your signature.
