Photo and signature for UPSC OTR and exams

The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Civil Services Examination and many other recruitments, now through a One Time Registration profile. Your photograph and signature are uploaded once and reused, so getting them right matters. UPSC states an exact file format and size range, and the portal rejects anything outside it. This tool crops to the required dimensions and compresses the file in one pass.

The sizes UPSC usually asks for

UPSC commonly accepts a photograph and signature in JPG within a range of about 20-300 KB each, with the photograph roughly square. Recent instructions require the photograph to be recent and to show the candidate's name and the date of the photo printed at the bottom, so take it correctly before uploading. The 350x350 photo and 350x160 signature shown here are typical values - always use the exact numbers on the OTR upload screen or in your exam notice.

Avoid a rejected UPSC upload

  • Recent photo with name and date printed, on a plain background.
  • Signature in dark ink on white paper, cropped close.
  • Keep both files within the stated KB range, not just under the maximum.
  • Upload the photo and signature as separate JPG files.

Size the photo first, then switch to the UPSC Signature preset for your signature.
