How to do it

Crop to the framing the form asks for.

Resize to the exact pixel dimensions.

Compress until the file is under the stated KB limit.

Read the form first

Note the two numbers the form gives you: the dimensions (for example 200 x 230 pixels) and the size cap (for example 50 KB). You need to satisfy both.

The order that works

Crop to the required framing — usually head and shoulders for a photo, or a tight box for a signature.
Resize to the exact pixel dimensions.
Compress until you are under the KB cap. If you cannot get there, reduce the dimensions slightly and repeat.

Signatures

Scan or photograph on white paper in good light, crop tightly, convert to a small JPG, and compress. Signature caps are often 10–20 KB.
