If a document holds anything personal, a password is a sensible last step before it goes out by email or chat.
Steps
- Upload the file to Protect PDF.
- Set a strong open password.
- Download the protected copy and share the password through a separate channel — not in the same email.
Tips
- Keep a copy of the original unprotected file somewhere safe; if you forget the password there is no recovery.
- A short, guessable password does not help. Use a passphrase.
- For documents you send often, store the password in a password manager.
The upload is processed over an encrypted connection and deleted from the server about an hour later.
