A 50 KB cap on a photo almost always means you need to resize the image as well as compress it. Compression alone on a full phone photo will not get there cleanly.
The order that works
- Crop to the framing the form asks for — usually head and shoulders.
- Resize to the pixel dimensions the form states (often around 200 x 230 px for a photo).
- Open the Image Compressor, compress, and check the size.
- Still over? Reduce the dimensions a little more and compress again.
Why resizing matters
A 3000 px photo holds far more detail than 50 KB can store, so the compressor has to throw away a lot and the result looks rough. Shrink the pixel count first and 50 KB becomes easy while the face stays clear.
Signatures
Sign in dark ink on white paper, crop tight, and the file will often land under 20 KB with room to spare.
